Riding in many different directions, yet finding myself time after time again

Grew up in between flat countryside but slowly started to appreciate the mountains more and more. I continuously switch between travelling (& working) to studying, and back to travelling again. Finished my degree in outdoor education a while ago and recently finished my bachelor degree at the University for Humanistics, where I plan to start on my Master's next year. In between, I visited Australia, and parts of America, Europe and Morocco.

I was born in The Netherlands in 1978. At the moment I live in the oldest city of Holland, Nijmegen (founded by the Romans as Noviomagus = New Market 2000 years ago!). Holland is a small and flat country, situated by the North Sea. I love mountains and, because Holland is very flat, I traveled intensively to mountainous countries: still looking for more, though! I've traveled through Europe, Australia and Central America, on my own or with a group. I hiked through Australia for half a year after I finished my physical ed degree. Nature and being outdoors is what intrigues me most: the perfect place to reflect. Most to the time you can therefore find me outdoors on my bike. My occupation is working as an outdoor instructor. In the summer I work in different parts of The Netherlands and Europe (biking, survival). In winter I give snowboard and skiing lessons in Austria.

Born in Ottawa into a traveling family, I had lived in four countries by the time I was eight years old. After high school in the Netherlands, I received my college education in the United States in the field of Economics, but found travel to be much more rewarding than trying to forecast the unforecastable.

After my long period of full-time work leading an art-institute, I decided to follow my instinct to go outdoors. During the last 13 years I led many trips for Euro-Bike Tours in the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Denmark, France. I simply love the diversity.

Bike Riding in Europe

I am originally from the Netherlands, where I live and work when I am not on tour. I have been biking ever since I could stand up straight. As a matter of fact, we almost learn to ride before we learn to walk... I'm familiar with all our European bicycle tours, but Italy is my favorite.

Enjoying life in all aspects

Born in Holland, I started to travel at a very young age, first with my parents, later on my own. Tried a couple of 'trades', from being a teacher, chemistry and photography, until I found a true joy in guiding walking and biking tours. Here I could combine work with the pleasure of traveling.

The road less traveled
Phone:
Address:
Carl has been fascinated by working in and exploring the natural world for a very long time. He received an honors degree in Outdoor Recreation and began a career working with at-risk youth. Through this work, he saw the profound effects our natural world can have on the human condition first-hand. This solidified his desire to share the natural world with as many people as possible.
Marcy's from Calgary & grew up exploring the Canadian Rockies starting from her first days on skis at the age of 5yrs. Her passion for the outdoors carries over naturally, as she interprets in detail the areas explored and how to travel in the mountains with safety and comfort in mind. Collectively, the Lee McLellan family have been migrating to Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca for their winters with their son Otis.
"Traveling with our son has taught us to slow down and appreciate the simplicity of life; children playing breaks down language barriers and doors are opened that would otherwise have been closed"
